One of the best ways to save on energy costs is to seal and insulate the outer walls, windows, doors and floors of your home. According to Energy Star, doing so can save up to 20 percent on heating costs. To seal leaks, use caulk, spray foam or weather stripping. Insulation keeps your home warm in the winter and cool in the summer, and eco-friendly versions of fiberglass and cellulose are made of recycled materials and don't include chemicals with formaldehyde.
